Our experience stems from nearly two decades of strictly commercial real estate marketing, primarily working with retail real estate owners and developers like WS Development and Linear Retail and with an array of retailers ranging from internationals to local mom-and-pops. Our Founder also had a long-time standing column titled, Dishing Social Media & Tech for CRE in the country’s largest weekly commercial real estate publication in the country, the New England and New York Real Estate Journal. From strategy, thought leadership, branding, digital marketing and social media, event planning and everything else under the marketing umbrella, we’ve seen it all.
There are many incredible marketing agencies out there, but a marketing agency that strictly specializes in commercial real estate, has long-time experience working for this caliber of owners, paired with being an industry leader in CRE tech and social media, there are none. And this is what sets us apart.
Rumphius Marketing was established in June 2021, summertime in the middle of the pandemic. This time provided an extended period for thought. Thought to re-evaluate one’s life and career goals, among other things. After 16 years working for Boston-based landlords, it was time to stretch our wings, time to create waves and change in a tired industry, time to feel alive again, time to help many businesses instead of working so hard for just one. Rumphius Marketing was born.
From the first LinkedIn post announcing the creation of Rumphius Marketing, the business has been off to the races. From PropTech companies, brokerages, construction companies, owners and developers of all sizes, and retailers – we’ve been working hard to bring our consulting services and execution to a wide range of CRE-related businesses.
The Rumphius Marketing mentality is largely based on one key principle from marketing extraordinaire, Seth Godin – be remarkable, from his famous book, Purple Cow. You must in fact, come up with your own purple cow – something that differentiates your company. Because if you don’t have this one simple factor, no amount of advertising can sell what you have to offer.
The key to success is to find a way to stand out – to be
the purple cow in a field of monochrome Holsteins
Our name Rumphius Marketing is an ode to a fictional character in a children’s book called, Miss Rumphius. Miss Rumphius is a woman who loves adventure and travel but always remembered that her grandfather had told her to “leave the world a more beautiful place”. Miss Rumphius planted lupines and the wind carried the seeds. In creating Rumphius Marketing, it’s Diana’s way of giving back and making the world a more beautiful place – helping a lot of different companies modernize, beautify and grow their brand.
Rumphius Marketing was created to better serve the commercial real estate industry with marketing needs. Too long have companies kept their branding from decades ago and have not quite figured out how to utilize social media to increase brand awareness and lead generation. Many successful businesses may have various marketing needs but don’t want to manage a number of specialists. Rumphius Marketing is an all-in-one agency to assist with all CRE marketing needs.
Diana is an independent woman, world-traveler, marketing extraordinaire who lives by the sea, trying to make the CRE world a more beautiful place.
(Almost all of) these are also the traits of character, Alice in the book, Miss Rumphius, in which Rumphius Marketing was inspired and gets its name.
Diana’s background stems from nearly two decades of commercial real estate marketing experience at the B2B corporate level and B2C shopping center level, primarily working for Boston-based landlords and with retailers from internationals to mom-and-pops. Diana wanted to find a way to give back to the world in her own special way – to help modernize, beautify and grow many commercial real estate-related companies instead of just one. To create a place where any CRE company could go for all things marketing, a place to get a modern, creative take on strategies, processes, branding, social media, projects and more.
Recently, Diana was asked to be a key contributor to the Small Business initiative for ICSC and contributes content including two published video series tailored to marketing your CRE business.
Over six years, Diana’s column, “Dishing Social Media and Tech” in the country’s largest weekly real estate publication, New England and New York Real Estate Journal, includes over 80 pieces of published work.
She serves as a volunteer on the ICSC New England Conference & Deal Making Committee and formerly chaired the Boston ICSC Next Generation Committee. She has spoken at numerous marketing and social media seminars across the country including ICSC Las Vegas, the industry’s largest conference, attracting upwards of 33,000 attendees.
Diana is also a Make-A-Wish Massachusetts & Rhode Island volunteer, granting wishes for seriously ill children in her community along with serving on their Wine & Wishes Committee. She’s also a Sudbury Family Network Volunteer, where she manages their social media and helps plan local family events around the Sudbury, MA area.
Her favorite role she has is being a mom to her toddler daughter, always encouraging her to try new things, love and respect nature, and be kind.
